About EnvirolightENVIROLIGHT™ has become a leader in the design, manufacture and supply of energy efficient lighting throughout the world Website: http://www.envirolightsa.com/ Carbon BenefitsSaving energy and reducing carbon emissions is an increasingly important topic the world has to face together. Street lighting is an undeniable aspect of modern civic life and accounts for city's 38-40 per cent of electricity consumption. Effective and efficient lighting is a prerequisite for the holistic development of any city as well as for creating a feeling of well-being and security.” http://www.expressindia.com/latest-news/Need-for-systematic-study-of-street-lighting-Seminar/338260/ “One CFL light bulb saves about 430kg of coal & 1100 litres of water over its lifetime.” Not only have Envirolight addressed the issue of saving electricity through the use of the light, but due to the housing using a polypropylene housing material, the Carbon Footprint of the making of the light housing can save as much as 5% of an aluminium housing case. “As much as 25% of electricity consumption (by far the #1 source of air pollution) in the United States goes towards lighting. We could save conservatively $2 BILLION a year and millions of tons of coal with more efficient use.” Two examples: Global BenefitsEnvirolight has taken its social responsibilities as primary in its vision. Envirolight products have been designed with two fundamental principals in mind “Energy Efficiency without Light Deficiency”. The Envirolight principle takes into account the global lighting needs especially in poorer communities while combating Global Warming, Carbon Emissions and Light Pollution in a holistic manner. Street lighting has a direct impact on Global Warming via the carbon emissions generated through wasteful electricity consumption both in the cost of manufacturing and in the direct energy consumption.
By utilising a white light source together with an efficient reflector design the Envirolight is able to reduce the circuit power substantially thus contributing a significant and direct contribution to global carbon emmissions. Furthermore, the excellent photometrics allow for up to 30 percent wider pole spacing thus reducing the quantity of lights, poles and cabling required hence further reducing the carbon emmissions via the manufacturing footprint. The global benefits are further enhance both in producing the power consumption as well as in the manufacturing footprint required in quantity of lights, poles, cabling and installation. The replacement of inefficient street lights with energy efficient products is one of the simplest and most effective methods of making a measurable contribution to our environment. The Envirolight team has considered the most appropriate materials in order to reduce its Carbon Footprint as far as possible. In this regard the Carbon Footprint of Manufacturing the Envirolight is estimated to be in the order of 1/20th of an equivalent size light constructed in aluminium. The future of the Envirolight products is to strive for wholly recyclable materials in it’s construction. REASON ENOUGH TO USE ENVIROLIGHT PRODUCTS ProjectsUNEP Project Envirolight has been awarded a project by the United Nations to replace a total of 540 luminaires, 90 in each of six of the FIFA World Cup Host Cities as part of a greening campaign.
